About / The person in the workshop
I’m Nick Boncek.
This is Lonely Gnome.
A company, a lab, and a place to share the work.

Building, operating, learning.
I’m the founder of Lonely Gnome. My current focus is Tinkerworks: an agentic software-delivery system that brings together local models, explicit task contracts, independent checks, and human approval.
I operate it on Stormforge, my multi-node GPU lab. Running the system gives me a way to test the architecture against real work: incomplete context, model failures, infrastructure constraints, and the details that only become visible at a handoff.
Writing down the judgment.
The field notes are part of the work. I write about the decisions I made, the evidence that changed my mind, and the controls that followed. The goal is to make the reasoning useful to other people building agentic systems.
Start with the pull request that never existed, then read the plan that was accurate and still wrong. Together, they explain why Tinkerworks treats execution evidence and architectural intent as separate questions.
